The New York Knicks have traded Travis Outlaw to the Philadelphia 76ers.

More from NBA

For a good portion of the offseason, rumors swirled suggesting the New York Knicks could trade Amare Stoudemire to the Philadelphia 76ers in effort to clear salary.

The two teams finally did make a trade today, though Stoudemire wasn’t involved but rather forward Travis Outlaw who will make his way to the City of Brotherly Love.

It’s the second trade of the offseason for Travis Outlaw who was traded by the Sacramento Kings to the New York Knicks in effort to acquire Quincy Acy.

Outlaw has a $3 million dollar expiring contract though the New York Knicks didn’t want to needlessly pay such by releasing him, so the Philadelphia 76ers who are in need of additional salary to meet the NBA’s minimum salary floor requirements made the move.

In terms of Outlaw’s future with the 76ers, that is currently unknown though he doesn’t likely figure to have a prominent role with the team given his age. It’s very possibly the two sides may attempt to work on a buyout, especially if Travis Outlaw wants to play on a potential playoff contender rather than the worst team in the NBA.

Along with Outlaw, the Sixers will also receive a future second-round pick as well as the right to swap another second-rounder. The New York Knicks meanwhile while acquire Arnett Moultrie who has proven himself to be a bit of a knucklehead in the past. He owns a $2 million dollar team option for the 2015-16 season which will likely be declined.
