Comedians spend a lot of their careers figuring how to say just enough without crossing the line, but Artie Lange did.

Comedian Artie Lange, most known for work with The Howard Stern Show and MadTV, has definitely crossed the line when it comes to being edgy and being racist, as his Twitter comments about ESPN’s First Take host Cari Champion get a little weird.
No one is saying Lange isn’t funny, but that’s no excuse to cross the line between comedy and cruelty — and down right debauchery.
Lange’s tweets begin with a simple acknowledgement of Cari Champions looks. The language on some of his tweets are NSFW:
Champion is a beautiful lady, but from that point, things get a little out of a hand as Lange begins to mean his sex parts and sexual actions.
From there, Lange goes on a rant where he proclaims Champion, an African-American female, to be his slave.
Now he’s mentioning Champion in hopes of having sexual relations with her.
And then Lange proceeds with comments about Cari Champion, slavery, and him being beaten with a whip by Champion … again.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to what where Lange went wrong — there are several comments you could point to just to make a point. His style of humor is crude in nature, which works some of the time. But it’s a fine line to try and balance on, and Lange clearly fell off hard here.
Hopefully ESPN responds publicly — or Lange apologize — but one thing is for certain: we probably won’t be seeing Lange on ESPN anytime soon.
