If nothing else, the Denver Broncos want to be the baddest fish in the sea Sunday.
In preparing to face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio is showing his charges video of shark attacks.
"“We sharks coming out of the ocean attacking the seals,” Del Rio told USA Today’s For The Win. “That’s how we want to attack the ball.”"
The Broncos have recovered only two fumbles this season and despite having the second-ranked run defense in the NFL, Denver is coming off a shocking loss to the St. Louis Rams that included Tre Mason becoming the first runner this season to top the 100-yard mark against it.
This isn’t a new thing for the Broncos: The defense has been watching violent nature videos for much of the season.
"“It’s all aggressive animals going after animals that are not so happy about being pursued,” Del Rio said. “It’s good stuff.”"
Of course, if they’re going to be sharks, the Bronco defenders would by default be the toughest fish at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Sunday. Dolphins are, after all, mammals rather than fish.
Maybe what Del Rio could have done is show his guys the Sharknado movies, considering they’ll be facing humans in the game.
