Running back LeGarrette Blount has made his return to the New England Patriots, and already he is praising head coach Bill Belichick.

With no disrespect to the Pittsburgh Steelers, LeGarrette Blount was able to move up in the NFL world by throwing a tantrum, leaving the field, and getting cut this week. Upon leaving Pittsburgh, Blount was given the opportunity to rejoin the New Englad Patriots, his team from the 2013 season and one of the Super Bowl favorites as things stand right now.

More from New England Patriots

Blount arrives in New England under interesting circumstances. Besides his own issues in Pittsburgh, the running back signed the week after Jonas Gray went absolutely bananas for the Patriots against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football. Gray rushed to the tune of 200 yards and four touchdowns, and so it appeared that Blount’s path to playing time in New England might be blocked.

Or maybe not. Gray saw a quick fall from grace this week after he arrived late to practice, was sent home, and then possibly took a shot at Belichick on Twitter. Sensing an opportunity, Blount was quick to suck up to Belichick. From the Boston Herald:

"“It means a lot,” Blount said. “Bill is a straightforward shooter. He’s a 100 percent honest person. I truly believe that if I do what I have to do, I’ll make myself a role on this team. Whatever I have to do, I’m going to do it to be productive.”"

What a teacher’s pet, am I right?

Blount’s familiarity in New England might create a role for him sooner than expected. It should certainly be an interesting situation to monitor as the Patriots prepare for the playoffs.
