Go to any professional sporting event and more often than not you’ll probably feel the alcoholic beverage you just shelled out of an hour of pay for is watered down.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have apparently taken that a step further though and served colored water to fans out of a liquor bottle at Raymond Jones Stadium.
It all went down on November 9th when the Bucs hosted the Atlanta Falcons and some fans in attendance wanted a few shots at the Ray Jay Bar. That’s when Troy Sykes ordered a few drinks of tequila and says he was served nothing but colored water.
“The ladies next to us were drinking Cuervo, and we asked for a couple of shots of Cuervo. When they gave them to us, we took them and they were colored water. That’s all it was,” Sykes said.
This of course wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard of a fan suggesting liquor at a stadium based bar wasn’t completely authentic, though Sykes actually got the manager of the bar to admit the bottle was filled with colored water.
According to Sykes, the bar manager informed him that liquor bottles used to decorate the bar are filled with water and he was accidentally served one of the decoration bottles. Seems like a plausible answer and one that would be difficult to come up with on your toes, so for now it seems like nothing more than an honest mistake.
The Ray Jay Bar quickly refunded Troy Sykes’ money though the unhappy customer suggested he was still disappointed in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
