When you sit down to watch the annual Christmas Day NBA games this year, not only will you see the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder all wearing holiday inspired jerseys, you’ll also see some of the top players getting festive with their kicks.
Nike unveiled new shoes for Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant on Wednesday morning which each player will wear during their Christmas Day game.
Each shoe has their own distinctive feel as not only are they in holiday colors, but the kicks are personalized for Bryant, James and Durant.
For example, Kobe Bryant’s shoe features a “Mamba’s Greetings” patch on the inner tongue. Meanwhile Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder will wear an “egg nog” sneaker:
"The shoe continues to bring Durant’s personal stories to life — this time paying tribute to his favorite holiday beverage, egg nog. A red Hyperposite heel integrates glossy flecks emulating the condensation on a glass of egg nog. “Fresh Since ’88,” Durant’s birth year, emblazons the shoe’s sock liner as a tribute to the holiday beverage Durant has enjoyed since childhood."
Last, but not least is LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers who will wear a camo-inspired look which is said to reflect the Ohio winter.
"The camo pattern is inspired by Akron, Ohio’s winter weather and includes a birch tree pattern. Black and Hyperpunch micro dots integrate into the camo pattern for a seasonal touch. A notable subtlety of this shoe is the snowflake formed by small hexagons on the tongue loop."
Unless you wear a lot of green and/or red, these probably aren’t shoes you’d actually wear out on the town though they’re going to be some sought after collector items if Nike does decide to release the shoes in any capacity.
