You wouldn’t think of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Sacramento Kings as a budding rival, but there is certainly a war of words going on between players on both rosters.
Earlier this season, with the Thunder attempting to hold off a comeback from the Kings, Oklahoma City center Kendrick Perkins was caught by a camera suggesting “These mother****ers are still the Sacramento Kings” during a huddle. Understandably that didn’t sit well with those in the Sacramento organization, namely forward Rudy Gay who suggested Kendrick Perkins play with paint on his face considering he’s a clown.
Somebody get the aloe for Kendrick Perkins because that’s a nasty burn.
Of course, it’s not as if Rudy Gay and his Sacramento Kings have a lot to back themselves up with as they’ve went into a downward spiral without DeMarcus Cousins (currently dealing with viral meningitis). On the flip side, Gay, as the leader of the Kings felt the need to stand up for himself and his team which is likely why he unleashed the verbal dagger towards the Thunder center.
The best news of all? We won’t have to wait long to see the bad blood between both teams spill as they’re set to play again on Tuesday night on ESPN.
If only Rudy Gay would come out to warmups and put some clown paint on Perkins’ seat on Oklahoma City Thunder bench.
Do it for America, Rudy.
