The Cleveland Browns teased fans with a potential playoff run, but the same old Browns seem to be back in town which has fans and former players a little more than disappointed.

When the Cleveland Browns were in first place in the AFC North, fans were waiting for the other shoe to drop and for reality to set back in. Brian Hoyer’s ugly completion percentage coupled with the dud arrival of Johnny Manziel has fans pretty depressed once again.

Cleveland is pretty much out of the playoffs at this point in the season and that has fans and former players a little more than pissed off at what is happening. Count former quarterback Bernie Kosar among those angry fans and he ripped into the Browns this week.

Mike Pettine talked with the Cleveland Plain-Dealer about the comments made by Kosar and passively dismissed them for what they are — an outsider’s opinion.

"“I think that’s a little dramatic. I know I talked about this before when sometimes guys will make comments that are a little bit over the top,” Pettine said, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I have a lot of respect for Bernie. He was one of my favorite guys growing up, heck of a quarterback. He’s entitled to his opinion, but being here on the inside of it and seeing what we’re building.”"

Pettine went on to correctly point out that we live in a ‘what have you done for me lately’ society where instant gratification is a constant need. That’s what fans wanted from the Browns, but you can’t blame them after the team has been so consistently bad for so long.

Then again, the team spiraled out of control in predictable fashion, so the real news here is that people were surprised that the Browns fizzled out the way they did.
