When Carmelo Anthony decided to pass on signing with the Chicago Bulls (among others) this past offseason and return to the New York Knicks, he knew it would be a process. Still, in a relatively top heavy Eastern Conference, the former Syracuse star likely felt as if the Knicks would have a solid shot at making the postseason as they ‘rebuilt’ for next year and more.
That hasn’t been even close to the case though as Melo’s Knicks sit at an absurdly bad 5-25, something that Carmelo Anthony suggests he can’t believe.
“I sit back and think about that,’’ Anthony said of the club from two years ago. “I’m not a guy who likes to go back in the past, but seeing where we were a couple of years ago, I thought we’d build on that the next year and be better and move toward that direction. To be sitting here at 5-25, it don’t even seem real right now.’’
To make the situation even worse for Carmelo Anthony, he’s been dealing with significant knee pain, so bad that some near the forward have suggested he shut things down to get healthy.
It’s been a perfect storm of awful for Melo and the Knicks and it doesn’t seem like the bumpy road is going to smooth out anytime in the near future.
Things have become so bad, in fact, the New York Knicks have resulted to selling tickets on discount website Groupon.
Hell has officially frozen over.
