Stephen A. Smith challenged Josh Gordon to a meeting with his family and inner-circle

Embattled Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon defended himself in an open letter to the Cauldron, calling out and asking for an apology from Stephen A. Smith, Charles Barkley and Cris Carter. In the lengthy letter, Gordon wrote over and over again how neither of the three knew him.

Stephen A. will not be apologizing. Instead, it will be more like having a “Screaming A” show down. On Cleveland radio today, Smith responded to Gordon’s attack with his own challenge:

"“Josh Gordon knows how to reach me. Name the time and place. If you think you have an argument to make against me and the things that I have said you can get your boys, you can get your family members, you can get your inner-circle, you can get all the people you love so much and hold near and dear to you. Get them together. Tell me when to show up. Name the time and place. I’ll do it. I’ll even pay for it out of my own pocket because this man does not have an argument, a shred of weight to stand on.”"

Stephen A continued blaming Gordon not just for his own failures, but influencing the future failures of others in the black community.

“We are not speaking about you as an individual. We are speaking about what you represent. What you are emblematic of.  You are a young African- American. From the hardcore streets of Houston. You grew up poor. You doing wrong and blowing opportunities can inspire and influence other individuals to go down the same path. You’re thinking small time.”

For his part, Josh Gordon owned up to his latest incident with drugs and alcohol and put the blame squarely on himself in an open letter to the Cauldron.

“First, words cannot express the remorse and regret I feel over this latest incident. I acknowledge that the repeated transgressions that have led up to this point have damaged my credibility, and for that, the only person to blame is me.”

Gordon doesn’t seem to think he has a problem, saying he “hasn’t smoked marijuana since before I was drafted by the Browns in 2012” and that he had four drinks on a flight to Las Vegas with his teammates, but it was “the first time he had a drink since his DUI in July 2014.”

Quick recap of what we have learned: Josh Gordon can write. Stephen A. Smith doesn’t back down from a fight. Josh Gordon is delusional. Stephen A. knows how to promote Stephen A.
