‘Deflategate’ balloons at Party City just in time for Super Bowl

Party City is cashing in on the “Deflategate” scandal train with their own line of special themed balloons.

Did you really think this was over? The folks over at Party City do not. In fact, just in time for Super Bowl XLIX, the celebration supply chain has introduced limited edition “Deflategate” balloons. When the New England Patriots take the field against the Seattle Seahawks, you can be prepared for the occasion with the proper NFL football atmosphere.

It all started with a tweet from a local Indianapolis reporter. Since that original post, this scandal has spiraled way out of control to the point of ad nauseam. Between the extensive SportsCenter coverage, and countless media parodies including an SNL skit on the matter, “Deflategate just will not seem to die. That is completely okay for Party City though. These balloons will likely be a hit on Sunday. Check them out below.

Looks pretty inflated, right? Do not fret. The store even went onto the popular internet forum Reddit to promote the sale of its new themed decorations, posting the following photo assuring its customers they can receive under-inflated balloons.

Regardless of the outcome of Super Bowl XLIX, the real winner will be the global audience. Hopefully this stale joke will wear off for good. Who knows? Maybe there will be actual NFL stories to write about solely related to the game itself.
