If you grew up in the 1980’s and 90’s as an NBA fan, you were surely in awe of Michael Jordan.
Even the most hardened New York Knicks fan, who would have enjoyed at least one championship if Jordan wasn’t around, can look back now and respect him for how he did it. Not only did he have all of the talent in the world, but he worked his way into a masterful mid-range game and turned out to be the most competitive son of a bitch of all time.
He’d rather rip your head off on the court than join forces with another superstar to make it easier.
Through this ferocious attitude, the legend of how he treated his teammates lives in infamy. Former Chicago Bulls power forward and Jordan teammate during their first three championships, Horace Grant, recently let us in on one of those infamous stories.
While on Hot 97 this past Monday, Grant told a story about a Jordan-Will Perdue incident:
Grant explained that after MJ warned Perdue to not set another illegal pick on him, Perdue went ahead and did it anyway. The result left the big-man with a black and blue eye.
There’s no question Jordan was supremely rough on his teammates. Legend has it that he even forced youngsters to play poker while on the road just so he can take their money.
Six championships and five MVP’s has its price I guess.
