The Kansas City Chiefs are currently expected to either trade or cut former star wide receiver Dwayne Bowe.

There are already quite a few big names on the market this offseason in the NFL and, according to Ian Rapoport, there could be another one joining them very soon. The Kansas City Chiefs are finally done waiting on Dwayne Bowe to figure things out, and they are expected to either trade or cut their former star wide receiver.

It isn’t likely that the Chiefs are going to find a team willing to take on the three-year, nearly $30 million contract that he currently has. Kansas City will likely end up cutting him and will release him into the free agency waters. Bowe will be just one of the talented wide receivers on the market, and he will likely receive quite a bit of interest.

During the 2014 season, Bowe ended up catching 60 passes for 754 yards. He wasn’t able to catch one touchdown all season long, which was a common theme among Kansas City wide receivers.

At 6-foot-2 and 221 pounds, he is a very big target for his quarterback which will make him valuable in free agency. There are quite a few teams that will see the talent that Bowe has, and give him a second chance to prove himself. Whatever the issue was in Kansas City, he just didn’t see to be able to play his game since his dominating 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Perhaps a new situation will fix things for Bowe, and he will be able to get back to being a legitimate starting wide receiver. Bowe is 30 years old now, and he will be getting the last chance to play his best level.

There are quite a few teams searching for wide receiver help, and one team that could be a darkhorse to sign him would be the Green Bay Packers. Randall Cobb appears to be on his way out-of-town, and the Packers could likely sign Bowe for a very reasonable contract. Playing alongside Aaron Rodgers would be a great first step towards getting Bowe’s career back on track.

It is going to be an entertaining offseason to say the very least, and there are still quite a few more players that could hit free agency. Bowe is just one of the many players that teams are considering moving on from.

As far as Bowe is concerned, being released and allowed to pick his next team would be a very nice situation to have.
