Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers apparently doesn’t have a lot of supporters in Anfield.

It usually isn’t hard to gauge what a fan base thinks about its manager or coach. A group of Liverpool supporters took the extra step to make sure everyone knew exactly how they felt about theirs.

During Liverpool’s match against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, a plane with the message “Rogers Out, Rafa In” was spotted above Anfield.

That is referring to third-year manager Brendan Rodgers and Rafael Benetiz of Napoli, a rising star in the football world ranks.

Rodgers is under fire following a disappointing campaign at Liverpool. After a strong start, Liverpool has fell into fifth in the Primer League table with little hope of moving into Champions League qualification.

Liverpool also lost to Besiktas in the Europa League round of 32 and Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final, teams it probably should have beaten. As it stands, Rodgers will be the first manager in club history to not win a trophy in his first three seasons.

The standard at Liverpool is higher than that so it’s understandable that Rodgers is under some heat. However, just last season Rodgers proved that he can be a very capable manager.

Liverpool finished second in the Primer League in 2013-14, two points behind Manchester City for the title. As that club finished ahead of more expensive squads like Arsenal and Chelsea, Rodgers helped it overachieve.

The circumstances this season made it difficult for a repeat performance to happen.Nobody could possibly replace Luis Suarez, who left for Barcelona. That left Daniel Sturridge as Liverpool’s clear-cut best striker, and he was not in top form this season while struggling through injuries.

Liverpool also got next to nothing out of Mario Balotelli. It’s arguable that Rodgers was partially responsible for that with mismanagement, but everyone expected more out of the Italian striker.

Still, Rodgers has to produce better results than this season, and football clubs are quick to pull the trigger on managers. It would be a mistake to fire Rodgers without a replacement in mind, but a few upgrades could be out there.

As these fans point out, Benetiz is one. Another would be Jurgen Klopp, currently of Borussia Dortmund is another.

No matter what happens, we know where these fans stand.
