I don’t want to say that this video of Oklahoma freshman defensive end Gabriel Campbell has effectively locked up the Big 12 title for the Sooners, but it definitely doesn’t hurt their case. Until we get footage of a player from any of the other nine schools catching and kissing a live snake while out fishing, my money is on OU. Boomer Sooner is fearless.

That’s some country stuff right there. Cottonmouth, water moccasin, anaconda, gardner snake, I don’t care what it is – if you’re out there on the river fishing and catch a snake just so you can take a quick video, pucker up and creep out your friends, then you can ride with me any day of the week.

Sure, when growing up back in Florida we’d hop on a baby gator if it came by the dock, but snakes were no bueno. We weren’t crazy or anything. This cat’s ready for the trenches. Love his buddy’s reaction, too – complete shock and awe.

Oklahoma kicks off its season on September 5 at 6 p.m. in Norman against the Akron Zips. It’s worth noting that Bob Stoops has failed to win double-digit games only four times in his career. He followed three of those seasons up by winning the Big 12 title. This year he looks to make it a sterling four-for-four (and one-for-one when one of his guys is caught on camera giving serpentine kisses).
