LSU head football coach Les Miles was taken to a Baton Rouge hospital on Monday morning. Miles was reportedly feeling under the weather while in his office and opted to visit the hospital as a precautionary measure after being advised to do so by team trainers. As a result, he missed the weekly Monday morning press conference.

According to LSU beat writer Ross Dellenger, no EMS was needed for Miles.

The school’s athletic director, Joe Alleva, released a statement confirming that the hospital trip was, indeed, precautionary and that Miles is expected to be at the team’s practice this afternoon.

This is the second illness-related news out of LSU’s camp in the past week. Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron recently revealed that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, but has received a clean bill of health from doctors and is ready to go for the season.

The 61-year-old Miles is entering his eleventh year at LSU. His career record with the Tigers is 103-29 (56-24), and includes three division titles, two conference championships and one national championship (2007).

This season, the Tigers are a trendy dark horse in the West. Despite concerns at the quarterback position, LSU is stacked with playmakers at wide receiver, and boasts one of the nation’s best players in running back Leonard Fournette. The team will also have a new identity on defense, as coordinator John Chavis left for Texas A&M following the 2014 season. Former Alabama linebackers coach Kevin Steele now oversees LSU’s defense.

The Tigers open their 2015 season on Saturday, September 5 in Baton Rouge against FCS squad McNeese State. LSU is currently ranked No. 14 in the nation.
