Michigan Wolverines tight end Jake Butt made an incredible grab to give Jim Harbaugh his first touchdown at Michigan.

Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan Wolverines offense has been largely stagnant for the first 44 minutes of their season-opener against the Utah Utes. Quarterback Jake Rudock had thrown two interceptions and had looked more-than-shaky when he wasn’t turning the ball over. However, tight end Jake Butt got the offense on the board at just the right time.

With about a minute left in the third quarter and the Wolverines trailing 17-3, Rudock and Michigan were bailed out by a dumb penalty on the part of Utah after the quarterback was hit out of bounds. On the very next play, Rudock looked for Butt in the endzone and Butt made a tremendous grab for the score:

Rudock made arguably his best throw of the night on that touchdown, albeit into triple coverage. All of the credit in the world goes to Butt on this one, though. He went up and got a high throw while taking contact and holding on through a defensive back trying to strip him of the catch. That’s an incredible effort by that young man.

Even with the score, Michigan still trailed Utah by a touchdown entering the final quarter, but Butt’s touchdown may have finally ignited the offense.
