Houston Texans vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have an opportunity to pick up wins as they aim for a playoff spot as a representative of the NFC South. To get there, the Falcons under new head coach Dan Quinn have to take care of games they should win, and so far they are doing a great job of it. This week, the Falcons have another opportunity as they face a struggling Houston Texans team at Home.

Keys to Victory

The Atlanta Falcons offensive line after being makeshift last year, has been pretty good this year. As a result, Matt Ryan has been able to stand in the pocket and make things happen. Those things have led to Julio Jones beginning the season on a record-setting pace. The offensive line will have their work cut out for them this week with J.J. Watt coming to town.

Also working for the Falcons, is that Devonta Freeman is establishing himself as a threat in the Falcons offense. If the big play isn’t there for Julio Jones, Matt Ryan now has the option to find Freeman, who has shown an ability to make big things happen in space.

Houston is going to have score points if they’re going to win this week. The problem is that Atlanta can score points at ease but Houston can’t. The Texans haven’t scored more than 20 points in a single game this season and the offense desperately needs the run game to carry them.

Arian Foster is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. If he can get out on the field then perhaps he can give the Texans the boost they need to open up the offense. Regardless, it’s going to have to come down to the Houston defense getting pressure on Matt Ryan and shutting the Falcons down. If Watt can have a big day, Houston will have their chances.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Atlanta -6

Moneyline: Atlanta -225

Prediction

The Houston Texans are going to have to come out by putting points on the board. If they can’t do that, the Falcons will put points up early and run away with the game quickly. The Houston offense hasn’t shown any life thus far and on the road against a good team, it’s not likely to happen this week. The Falcons will continue to make big plays and show the league that they are for real.

Final Score: Houston Texans 10, Atlanta Falcons 31
