The Buffalo Bills may not have both running backs LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Karlos Williams (concussion) on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

According to Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com, the Buffalo Bills are preparing to face the 1-2 Tennessee Titans on Sunday without their top two tailbacks, LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams. McCoy has dealt with hamstring issues for the first quarter of the 2015 season. Williams is entering concussion protocol after suffering one in Week 4 against the New York Giants.

The Bills are 2-2 and could improve to 3-2 with a decent road win over the Titans in Nashville, but it seems that neither McCoy or Williams will play on Sunday. Neither running back practiced for the team on Friday morning.

Though Bills Head Coach Rex Ryan won’t automatically rule out a return for LeSean McCoy, him not participating in practice on Friday does not bode well for the former All-Pro running back. Since Williams remains in concussion protocol, do not expect him to play on Sunday against the Titans either.

More from Buffalo Bills

So who replaces the dynamic duo in the Bills’ backfield? It seems that six-year NFL veteran out of Mississippi State Boobie Dixon will get the start for Buffalo in their road game on the banks of the Cumberland River. Look for Ryan to also feature recently acquired tailback Dan “Boom” Herron to also get plenty of touches in the Bills’ backfield.

In Rex Ryan’s system, the running game is paramount in dictating time of possession for his defense-first football team. Buffalo may need to rely on their passing game a little more than normal in this game. Fortunately for the Bills, it seems that wideout Sammy Watkins will play on Sunday, giving quarterback Tyrod Taylor another weapon to use in the passing game.

Buffalo should manage just fine in this road game against the Titans. However, the Bills will need at least one of their main tailbacks at full strength when Buffalo takes on AFC North leader Cincinnati at home in Week 6.
