Nick Chubb suffered a brutal leg injury on Saturday afternoon, and his future in football seems to be up in the air in the most unsettling way.

UPDATE (Sunday, 11:33 a.m.)

Chubb’s mother has commented on her son’s injury. The sophomore back has a PCL tear, along with two other ligaments. According to La’Velle Chubb, it will likely take two weeks before any decision about surgery is made.

"Gm, I thank God for being God and what an awesome God he is. Now I want to thank each and everyone of you for your prayers, text, calls etc. The outpouring of your love is an example of just how great God is. I can’t thank you enough. Nick has A PCL tear along with 2 other ligaments. It’s not nearly as bad as it could’ve been. They’ll wait for swelling to go down to decide when to have surgery. Possibly 2wks. Nick is in good spirits. Moma on the other hand is trying to hold it together. This right here, along with a few other things just helps put things into perspective. I do not doubt God or His plans. As matter of fact, I know I’m on the right track. We are going to increase our time with God and continue watching him work. Stay tuned. ….."

UPDATE

Georgia head coach Mark Richt says that Nick Chubb will be ‘ok in the long run’, whatever that means.

Georgia running back Nick Chubb suffered what was probably one of the most brutal injuries in college football history on Saturday against Tennessee. The video of the injury is just brutal, as you can see Chubb’s knee buckle then completely invert the wrong direction — an image not for the squeamish or faint of heart. Beyond the shock value of the injury, which is about as Not Safe For Life as it gets, college football fans all over the country are glued to social media trying to find out the full extent of this devastating injury to Chubb. As we all thought, Chubb was almost immediately ruled out for the rest of the Georgia-Tennessee game:

The instant bake hot take was not about Chubb at all, it was actually directed at fellow Heisman hopeful Leonard Fournette.

As far as a diagnosis, nothing was made immediately available but we did learn that Chubb was in such intense pain that he actually passed out for a brief moment on the sideline.

This isn’t a good indicator that the injury won’t be serious, but you just needed to watch the video to know that. It will be a miracle of the football gods if this isn’t anything short of devastating and career threatening, but there’s hope that Chubb will be able rehab and bounce back next season.
