The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly in on the Kevin Martin trade market this winter.

We are still a month away from the NBA trade deadline, but already the hot stove is starting to heat up with some potential action. This week we learned that the Pels and Kings discussed a Ryan Anderson for Rudy Gay deal which was nixed by New Orleans. But that’s not the only potential deal we’ve seen pop up and it will hardly be the last — especially if Mark Cuban has a say in things.

According to Michael Scotto of SheridanHoops, the Mavs are the latest in a handful of teams to have interest in trading for Minnesota Timberwolves sharpshooter Kevin Martin.

Martin seems to be the most tradable asset on the Wolves roster right now — or at least the player most likely to be moved before the deadline. There’s no chance Minnesota offers up any of their young talent outside of maybe Shabazz Muhammad and Gorgui Dieng, and Martin’s contract is something the Wolves wouldn’t mind moving.

He’s not a bad player, and there’s a chance Minnesota hangs onto Martin past the deadline. But for a contender like Dallas, his addition would bring some much appreciated depth and talent as they try to push hard for playoff positioning in the always tough Western Conference.

All of this is just rumor and hearsay — but that’s what makes this time of the year so much fun. Dallas isn’t the only team in on a potential Martin deal and they likely won’t be the last we hear mentioned.
