Johnny Manziel’s agent has quit after police reports came out regarding Manziel striking his ex-girlfriend.

The news goes from incredibly bad to somehow even worse for Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel. Early in the week, reports surfaced that manziel had once again had a dispute with his now ex-girlfriend, which involved police intervention. On Thursday, the brutal news was broke via TMZ that Manziel reportedly struck the woman in question several times before supposedly emanating that he wanted to kill himself.

Now, Erik Burkhardt, Manziel’s agent, has resigned. Here’s the whole statement, via Ian Rapoport.

At this point, perhaps the best thing for Manziel to do is step away from football for a while, if not forever. The National Football League would be doing him a favor to suspend him indefinitely. Manziel’s actions are dangerous and reckless, and if he did indeed strike his girlfriend, criminal and ugly.

At some point, Manziel needs to get help. Forget about jail time that some folks will be screaming about, that doesn’t fix anything. Manziel needs professional help, and hopefully his agent throwing in the towel will help him realize that.
