Karl-Anthony Towns took flight to soar over the New Orleans Pelicans for an epic jam

The Minnesota Timberwolves took a bit of a risk when they drafted center Karl-Anthony Towns from the University of Kentucky with the first overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft. When they drafted him, he was still extremely raw when compared to the some of the other prospects. Towns has made it a point to make the Timberwolves look smart so far this season, though.

Plays like this one that he made against the New Orleans Pelicans are why.

Towns is an extremely unique talent because of his size (7’0″ and 244 pounds) and his pure athleticism. He is a rare big man who can handle the ball like a guard at times. Entering Monday’s action, Towns ranked second among all rookies in points per game with 16.7.

Towns also has a .540 field goal percentage, the highest among all rookies with at least 10 points per game. The Timberwolves center is also averaging 10.1 rebounds per game (highest among rookies), 1.81 blocks per game (second among rookies), and has 28 double doubles (most among rookies).

With Towns, Ricky Rubio, and Andrew Wiggins, the Timberwolves appear to have a strong core of players to build around.
