With news breaking that ‘Space Jam 2’ is really happening with LeBron James as the star, we look at five NBA players who should join the cast

It’s finally happening basketball fans! Space Jam 2 has been a rumor for quite some time now, but is finally official after finding a director. Oh, and yes, it will star the biggest name in the NBA, LeBron James.

Picking up the director duties for the film will reportedly be Justin Lin, who is known for his work in the Fast and Furious franchise. He was the director of Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6. Lin will also be the director for Star Trek: Beyond.

As for LeBron, this won’t be his first time on the big screen, as the four-time NBA MVP was given rather positive reviews for his work in the film Trainwreck last year. His status as the best player over the last decade as well as his likable personality makes him the perfect choice to star in the sequel to the movie made popular by the great Michael Jordan.

In the 1996 version, though, Jordan wasn’t alone as several of the biggest names in the sport were seen in the film which featured live action mixed with animation. This film will surely follow the same guidelines, meaning James will need some co-stars worthy of being on the big screen.

Here is a look at the five NBA players who would make the most sense –and draw the biggest crowd– that should star with James.
