After being taken fifth in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Timberwolves, Kris Dunn gave JCPenney a shoutout for his shoes

Kris Dunn was widely regarded by many people leading up to the 2016 NBA Draft as the third best player in the draft. After the first four picks went off the board before him, though, Dunn was still waiting. The Minnesota Timberwolves solved that problem, though, as they selected the point guard out of Providence with the No. 5 overall pick.

After such a long journey to the NBA in which he was asked to overcome hardship after hardship, it was an emotional moment for Kris Dunn. He was obviously moved from the moment he got on stage to when he got down and was being interviewed. Once he calmed down a bit, though, he didn’t hesitate to give a hilarious product shoutout.

While showing off his glittery shoes, Dunn gave the immortal JCPenney some shine at the NBA Draft:

If you took the over on 0.5 JCPenney shoutouts at the draft, you’re probably rolling in the dough right now. Good on you.

Let’s hope that this starts a real department store war to try and get their name shouted out at the NBA Draft. Next year, we’ll have Harry Giles shouting out Dillards. But let us never forget that it was Kris Dunn this year in the 2016 draft that blazed the trail for anyone to come after him.
