Week 2 offered plenty of surprises that changed the 2017 NFL mock draft picture. Some of them were small and others were enormous.

This week the major shift is at the quarterback position. Not just in who goes where but also how many go in the first round. There were some bold trades involving a few of them. To say nothing of some other notable moves that would be sure to cause a ruckus.

1. Cleveland Browns

1. player. 53. The Cleveland Browns have been the favorite for the No. 1 pick since before the season even began. They’re the only team that tore everything down from the front office to the coaches and roster and committed to starting from scratch. They made a ton of draft picks in 2016 and it’s going to take time to develop all of that before this franchise can even think about winning again.
Everything of course starts at quarterback. It was a nice idea for the team to consider an attempt at resuscitating the career of Robert Griffin III. He’s just 26 years old and once upon a time was a Pro Bowl player. Sadly another injury suffered in his first start has all but ruined that plan. His odds of retaining the job are fading fast, especially if (when) the Browns end up with another high pick.

The growing consensus in the scouting community is that the #1 pick spot belongs to Notre Dame standout DeShone Kizer. It’s his to lose. He more than any quarterback in the country boasts that mix of rare physical talent, keen intelligence, poise and leadership. Arm strength, accuracy, mobility, and measurable can all be checked off. If the Browns are looking for a franchise-caliber guy to build around, they won’t do much better.
. QB. Notre Dame.
