2017 NFL Mock Draft: QBs dominate top 15
By Brad Weiss
Week 7 of the 2016 NFL season is in the books, and the Cleveland Browns are still looking for their first win. Here is our latest 2017 NFL Mock Draft.
The Cleveland Browns have the best chance to get the top selection in next April’s NFL Draft, as they have started out the year without a win through Week 7. While their selection at No. 1 seems inevitable, there are some surprising teams who are on pace to select early in next year’s draft. As the NFL season inches towards its midway point, the positions to which teams are slated to pick are sure to be changing weekly.
Here is the 2017 NFL Mock Draft at this juncture of the regular season.
The 2018 draft class should be loaded with quarterback talent, and the Cleveland Browns could actually hold onto Josh McCown for another season. McCown showed how much he loved his teammates when he was injured earlier in the year, breaking down in tears when talking about how he went back into the game with such a serious injury. Myles Garrett would be a perfect fit at No. 1, because he instantly makes the Browns better on defense, and is a very low-risk, high-reward type selection.
Garrett can do it all, and is one of those talents that does not come around very often. He can rush the passer with the best of them, and he is as solid as there is against the run. The Browns defense has a ton of holes in it, but adding a player like Garrett will shore up not only the run defense, but also their defense against the pass. He is lighting fast off the ball, and would give the Browns their first feared defensive lineman in a long time.
The Browns have already said they are not going to trade Joe Thomas, and they already have a bunch of young talent at the quarterback position. They also have a second pick in the first round, and with how the draft is shaping up, they will probably be able to get one of the better quarterbacks late in the first round. Garrett will be NFL-ready from Day One, and the Browns will be happy they grabbed him first overall.
