Opening Day 2017 is split between two days this year, with three games on Sunday and 12 on Monday. Here’s a breakdown of the full MLB Opening Day schedule.

Few things are more thrilling for baseball fans than the first day of the baseball season. As the old saying goes, “hope springs eternal” and as winter fades away and the weather gets warmer it becomes time for baseball season. Slates have been wiped clean and the 2017 World Series title is open to everyone.

Opening Day 2017 begins with three games on Sunday, April 2, and continues with 12 games on Monday. The Sunday matchups include the St. Louis Cardinals home opener against the World Series Champion Cubs. The Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays will also play on Sunday and there is a special significance with those games. Both the Diamondbacks and the Rays are expansion teams that joined the league in 1998 so the 2017 season marks 20 seasons for both teams.

This year’s baseball season promises to be full of some great games. Interleague matchups pit the American League Central against the National League West, the AL East vs the NL Central, and the AL West against the NL East. Note that the Pirates and Red Sox start the season together, which will be fun to watch.
