Rich Eisen is famous for running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine every year, so a Lions reporter decided to give it a go herself.
NFL Network’s Rich Eisen’s 40-yard dash is one of the highlights of the NFL Combine, and the money his run raises for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital only makes it more worthwhile. Eisen’s #RunRichRun campaign also engages fans, who are encouraged to post videos of their own 40-yard dashes.
The event is so popular it’s a wonder others in the assembled media haven’t taken a shot of their own at the 40-yard dash. They may be shy, or just afraid of pulling a hammy in dress clothes, but it would certainly be a lot of fun to see a big name like Adam Schefter give it a go.
That same thought apparently crossed the mind of Tori Petry, who works for the Lions’ website. On Saturday morning in Indianapolis, she ran the 40. In heels, no less.
.@sportstori ran a sub-6 40 in heels. 🏃♀️💨

Petry’s 5.98 time actually topped the 6.02 Eisen posted this year, which is impressive all the way around, regardless of any difference in footwear. But she also seems to think should could have done better.
True story 😏💁🏼 I should have put my head down for the start. That would've shaved at least another tenth off, right? Haha https://t.co/Msae5ULbJN

I hope we see more of this at the combine going forward. There may be some small injury risk, and there’s definitely risk of embarrassment, but it’s a much-needed dose of fun.
