Russell Westbrook sends pass through Cory Joseph’s legs (Video)

Russell Westbrook may have made his best play of the season when he sent a pass to Victor Oladipo through Cory Joseph’s legs.
2017 has been the Year of the Brodie. Every single Oklahoma City Thunder game this season has been appointment television because of Russell Westbrook. And even though this NBA season is special because three players have 10 or more triple-doubles, Westbrook is out-pacing the rest of the league by far with 34 and counting.
Even though Westbrook is leading the league in points per game, this pass may have been his best play of the season. After intercepting a pass from Cory Joseph, Westbrook sent a pass through to Victor Oladipo. But instead of a regular bounce pass, he sent the ball through Joseph’s legs!
What did Joseph ever do to Westbrook to be on the wrong end of this highlight reel? Whatever it was, you have to feel bad for him.
Prior to this season, Joseph was regarded as one of the most reliable backup point guards in the league. But he’s had a ton of inconsistent displays, and hasn’t averaged double-digits in any category. Kyle Lowry’s injury has thrust Joseph into the starting role, thereby increasing his usage rate. It’s one of the reasons why the Toronto Raptors’ offense has stagnated since the All-Star break.
As for Westbrook, this assist was one of 12 on the night. By halftime, he was already two-thirds of the way towards his 34th triple-double, and secured it in the third quarter.
Coming into the season, many people expected Westbrook to score a bunch, but not pass to his teammate. Averaging a triple-double on the season is incredible enough, but to lead the league in scoring as well should be enough to win the MVP. And instead of battling for eighth, the Thunder could be pushing fifth by virtue of the crowded Western Conference playoff picture. They would be nowhere near that position if not for Westbrook.

Even though the Raptors are down big, the fans can’t say they didn’t get their money’s worth watching the Brodie.
