April Fools’ Day is a fun time with a lot of silly headlines. Here’s 10 “believable” College Football April Fool’s jokes.

April Fools’ Day is one of the sillier holidays that nobody seems to actually like. The internet is basically unusable and it leads to a lot of trickery. However, it can also be a fun time to take a moment and enjoy the silliness of everything. The majority of these headlines aren’t meant to trick, but get a small chuckle and point out the absurdity of what they’re about.

So, one last disclaimer: The following are completely SATIRE and are meant to be taken as such

College football is perfect for this. It’s easily the wackiest of the American sports and their fans are so numb to everything that any headline would be believable at this point with just the right amount of weirdness to it. It’s a great time to remember that this sport is dumb and rarely ever makes sense which is why we all love it so much.

With that in mind, here are some silly April Fools’ pranks that are just believable enough to need to think about it for a second.

10) Nick Saban steps down as Alabama head coach to recruit full time

If there’s one thing Nick Saban hates it’s coaching. He can’t stand being over on the sidelines having to micromanage every little part of the game. Too much is out of his control and quite frankly he doesn’t think he’s the best at it. If Saban had it his way he would just run the ball a lot and play really tough defense, but the game has evolved to the point where he can’t do exclusively that anymore. As time moves on and Saban tires more of coaching he wonders what life would be like if he could just recruit.

Crootin’ is where Saban’s real talent lies. He’s never tried to be the best coach in the world, but he’s always tried to out-recruit everybody in the country. He does so on a pretty consistent basis, and with the game reaching a point he doesn’t enjoy, Saban decides he would rather do that full time. In a shocking press conference, Saban steps down as head coach, but not as the team’s primary recruiter. In a weird turn of events, Saban never has to coach another game for ‘Bama his entire life, but he recruits for them daily.

Finally, Saban gets to do what he loves without all the hassle of that extra stuff like football games and interviews. The best part? If the team ever underperforms that’s not on him. His job is to just get the talent there. Let someone else take care of the rest. Sweet, blissful lack of accountability.
