Bro Jackson Jukebox Club, Vol. III: The top 25 Scott Storch songs

Last week, the head of Storchaveli Recordings and Tuff Jew Productions LLC Scott Storch was robbed outside Platinum Studios in New York City. It’s the most recent in what has been over a half decade of punchlines for the Long Island-born producer. It wasn’t always this way. He used to be one of the most successful music producers of the mid-aughts. If he wasn’t on the tier of Timbaland, Lil Jon, or Max Martin, he was certainly close.

Storch got his start playing keyboard as a member of The Roots. He later worked under the very large wings of Dr. Dre and Timbaland, and famously provided the piano plinks on “Still D.R.E.” and the clavinet on “Cry Me a River.” These were the richest years in hip hop. It was the loud death knell as the record industry was gouged by Napster, and Storch wanted that hemorrhaging cash. He became insanely wealthy and kept burning bridges behind him. While working with Beyoncé, 50 Cent, and P!nk, Timbaland and Christina Aguilera were making diss songs at him.

Storch appeared on MTV Cribs only showing his car collection, in what was perhaps the most egregious display of wealth from the early aughts hip-hop housing bubble. For Scott, that bubble burst in 2006 when he took the first vacation of his adult life in south France, where he became addicted to cocaine. Everything went down hill from there, including the music industry. Storch could barely find work until he got sober three years later.

He had a chance at a comeback in 2010 when he put out singles for Big Boi and Gucci Mane, and produced what was supposed to be Detox‘s first single. Of course, Dr. Dre decided to put out that awful “I Need a Doctor” and went back living inside his shell, leaving Storch to flounder in his baby mama drama. This is where he is today. After selling his $20 million yacht for $600,000 on eBay, he is currently on his grind wearing $100,000 worth of jewely and producing songs for Saigon. Of course he deserves this second chance. This America man.

Let us look back to a simpler time where rappers going gold could get them kicked off a major label. Here are the 25 best songs produced by Scott Storch.
