Ronny Turiaf won’t wear 21 out of respect for KG
By Ryan Donoho
Ronny Turiaf signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves this off-season, and it looks like he will be changing more than just his uniform. According to the Star Tribune, the 8 year veteran will be changing his number, too:
"Turiaf has worn No. 21 much of his career, but Kevin Garnett wore that for the Wolves all those years, of course.Turiaf called Garnett “my favorite player, one of my favorite players” and said “I love his passion for the game. Out of respect, I could not wear No. 21.”"
That shows that KG has earned immense respect from his peers. KG started his legacy in Minnesota, and his number will be retired someday. Turiaf will instead wear number 32, in honor of Iowa State coach Frank Hoiberg.
Turiaf won’t be anything more than a garbage time player, but he is a great teammate. Also, he is known for his great celebrations. His veteran leadership will count for something though, as the Wolves have playoff aspirations, and he could help rally the team in a tough situation. Either way this is a nice gesture by Turiaf.
