4. Mike James-RB-Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0.1%)

If you’re looking through the running back bargain bin, the best option is most likely Mike James of Tampa Bay. The 6th round pick out of Miami got 14 carries on Sunday after Doug Martin exited with an injury and acquitted himself well rushing for 45 yards and adding eight yards on three catches.

James has a huge opportunity in front of him with Martin’s injury revealed today to be season-ending leaving James as the feature-back in a very young offense with some decent weapons which should keep teams from keying in on him. There are so few running backs available on waiver wires that even get touches that the fact that James will get the bulk of the workload makes him worth pursuing if you need to boost your depth or replace an injured running back.

This week he and the Bucs face a tough task for him as they host the Panthers who have been solid against the run this season. Next week they travel to Seattle in another brutal matchup, but then things ease up a bit for James as Tampa takes on Miami, Atlanta again, and Detroit. It would be best to add James and wait him out the next two weeks before putting him in your lineup, but if you need to take a risk he can be a flex option since he’ll be the top back in the Tampa backfield.
