Ultimately what the Chicago Bears would love is to find defensive line help. Phil Emery has said that no teams are willing to unload good players in that area because they are so hard to replace. If he was thinking aggressively enough though, he might have a shot at Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Gerald McCoy.

The 25-year old had a breakout season in 2012 with five sacks. He has two so far this season. A big reason Tampa Bay might listen is simple math. They are 0-7 and have almost a zero percent chance of reaching the playoffs. With Greg Schiano on the hot seat, players normally considered untouchable become trade fodder for the next regime. McCoy becomes a free agent in 2015 so his contract is still good.

The real sticking point is giving up a first round pick for him. Chicago would like to keep its high choices to continue building their core under new coach Marc Trestman. However, looking at it from a different point of view, landing McCoy could lead them to re-signing pending free agent Henry Melton. Including Stephen Paea that would give the Bears one of the best defensive tackle rotations in football with none of them yet being 27-years old.

That might just be worth a first round pick.
