Fantasy Football Waiver Wire 2013: Top 10 Week 11 pickups
6. Jonathan Stewart-RB-Carolina Panthers (4.2%)
While he doesn’t have the upside of Andre Brown as a feature back or the explosive ability of Andre Ellington, Jonathan Stewart looks like he’s ready to contribute on a weekly basis for the Panthers and his fantasy owners. Unfortunately for Stewart’s potential owners, he is stuck in a committee in the Carolina backfield as he shares time with DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert.
This last week, Stewart led the Panthers in carries with 13 rushing for 41 yards against a stingy 49ers defense. It was a good sign for Stewart who continues to work his way back after ankle injuries cost him the first half of the season. It looks like he’ll get the touches and should be around 50 yards rushing most weeks while also contributing in the receiving game when Cam Newton needs an outlet pass.
Stewart and the Panthers play the Patriots this week on Monday Night Football which should be a good gauge of how he’ll continue to be used going forward. Barring injury to Williams, Stewart won’t have huge upside but will continue to give steady contribution the rest of the season which should make him a valuable backup piece to pickup if you can.
