NFL Rookie Of The Year Finalist Breakdown
By John Starba
Kiko Alonso
Selected out of Oregon Kiko has been nothing short of a phenomenon for the Buffalo Bills. The Bills like the Packers neglected a position that shouldn’t have been and now are reaping the benefits. Alonso came into Bills camp and just worked from day one and ultimately won the starting job.
In that time he was a player that was all over the field and just seemed to dominate. Playing every snap this season he showed to be a true defensive stud and looks to be this team’s potential leader on that side of the ball in the near future. His vision and speed allow him to cover a lot of the field and to read the offense to get the upper hand.
He was named NFL’s defensive rookie of the year by the Pro Football Writers of America. His play was great and we’ll have to wait until next year to see if it continues.
His stats looked like: 16 games played, 159 combined tackles, two sacks, four interceptions and a forced fumble.
