The Minnesota Timberwolves are one of five teams currently looking for a new head coach and by the end of the weekend there could be as many as eight teams in the market. With a limited field to work with, eyes are darting to the college ranks now more than ever to try and promote the titans of college basketball up to the pros. Los Angeles has eyes on John Calipari, Kevin Ollie is getting a lot of mention and so too is Billy Donovan.

Tom Izzo has expressed his desire to remain at Michigan State next season but that apparently hasn’t turned Flip Saunders or the Timberwolves off to the idea of pursuing him.

Saunders himself is still a candidate for the job if the Wolves can’t find anyone else to fill the position, but that seems to be a last resort. Then again, we may end up seeing Saunders in the gig if the Wolves put too many eggs into the basket of someone uninterested in the hunt.
