Eugenie Bouchard on Maria Sharapova: ‘We’re not friends’ (Video)
By Dan Zinski
Rising tennis sensation Eugenie Bouchard gets her name mentioned with Maria Sharapova a lot, mostly because of the hotness thing, but also because she admittedly used to idolize Sharapova as a young lass.

But just because she used to love Sharapova, and still looks up to her and respects her, don’t go thinking Eugenie Bouchard is friends with Maria.
At all.
In fact, going by her tone-of-voice in this video, I’d say Eugenie Bouchard is mostly just annoyed by Sharapova’s existence. She wants to brush old lady Sharapova aside like a gnat.
Bouchard gets to face her non-friend Sharapova Thursday in the semis of the French Open after defeating Carla Suarez Navarro. Sharapova earned her berth in the semis by defeating Garbine Muguruza.
This is perfect. The old Sharapova vs. the new Sharapova. It’s like when Edward G. Robinson took on Steve McQueen in The Cincinnati Kid. SPOILER ALERT: Robinson took down McQueen. If the tennis match follows the plot of The Cincinnati Kid, Bouchard will go in all cocky and get schooled.
Of course, tennis isn’t poker. In tennis you can’t just beat someone with guile and mental stamina. You have the physical dimension to think about as well. And Bouchard is younger and in better shape.
You can bet Bouchard won’t get inside Sharapova’s head with any of her veiled hostility. I don’t think Sharapova cares one lick about Bouchard, frankly. Maybe she’ll do a Michael Jordan job on her and cozy up to her before the match only to crush her soul.
Dang, this is starting to get me hot.
