The Houston Rockets, seemingly never satisfied with their roster, have suggested they want to obtain another All-Star talent to go alongside Dwight Howard and James Harden.

More from Houston Rockets

Many have suggested that New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony may be such a target, though he’s yet to officially opt-out of his deal. Another name linked to Houston has been Kevin Love as the power forward has more or less requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Understandably, the Rockets are quite interested in such a move though their lack of assets will likely hurt their ability to trade for the All-Star, something they apparently know as Sam Amick reports the Rockets feel ‘outgunned’ regarding a Love trade.

“On the Kevin Love front, I’m told the Houston Rockets are pretty sure they’re outgunned in terms of having the assets that Minnesota wants,” says Amick.

While Houston does have Chandler Parsons who they could work into a sign-and-trade deal, their only only assets are the expiring contracts of both Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin. Granted, those are valuable pieces to the correct team, but not the Timberwolves who would be looking to acquire young talent and/or draft picks in exchange for Love, not salary relief.

Multiple other teams like the Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors, who’ve all expressed interest in Love can provide a combination of both young talent and draft picks (though Warriors would lack the latter) that would likely best the Rockets best offer.

For now, Love in Houston seems to be a bit of a pipe dream.
