NFL: 5 players facing make-or-break seasons

Tony Romo
Damnit Tony Romo, I didn’t want to put you on this list, but it had to be done. I know it, you know it, we all know it.
It’s like we almost wish Romo would just be great, or completely suck. Stop giving us this middle ground to stand on. He keeps playing well enough to keep his job, but poor enough to always have it in question. It’s not really the consistent poor play that has hurt Romo, it’s just the timing of his poor play.
Similar to Manning, changes of scenery aren’t always bad – maybe they should just switch locations. It’s hard to give up on him though, he is a likable guy who has had – statistically – great years in Dallas. I mean, he completed 64% of his passes last year, and threw 31 touchdowns to only 10 interceptions; there is a lot of teams who would take that any day of the week. He’s almost thrown for 30,000 yards in Dallas.
People love to hate on Romo – I’d be jealous of his wife too – but he does some good things. However, he is getting older. With the friction that has been between him and Jerry Jones, and the overall circus that is the Cowboys, if Romo doesn’t perform well this season, it could be his last wearing a star on his helmet.
