It’s been over a year in the making, but Philadelphia 76ers big man Nerlens Noel has scored his first NBA basket and it came with authority during the Sixers opening possession during their Summer League debut.

Just after the tip, Nerlens Noel, posted up a touch outside of the block, received a pass from behind the three-point line. A quick spin move and Noel was on the move towards the basket before giving a quick stop, allowing his defender to fly by. That gave the former Kentucky Wildcat a wide open lane to throw down a nice slam, the two-points not only giving the Sixers the lead but also being his first NBA related points.
No, they won’t go down in the record books as it wasn’t a regular season contest, but it was certainly a nice way to get your feet wet.
Nerlens Noel, as you’ll likely remember, was thought by many to be the No. 1 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. However a late season knee injury with the Wildcats derailed such and the top prospect fell to the No. 6 pick before being traded by the New Orleans Pelicans to the Philadelphia 76ers on a draft day trade.
There was hope that Noel would actually be able to participate in a few games come the end of the 2013-14 season, however the Sixers preferred to give him an additional few months of rest.
So far, so good as Noel didn’t look to have any issues getting up for his first ever NBA dunk.
