3. LeBron might be leaving:

We shouldn’t beat around the bush, however. The biggest reason Chris Bosh should leave Miami for Houston might not come until/unless LeBron James decides he wants to take his talents elsewhere. The Heat can still make Bosh a pretty good deal, or at least good enough to keep him from walking as long as he gets to continue playing with the greatest player in the world. But if LeBron leaves Miami, what reason would Bosh have to stay?

Each passing day feels like a step closer to the end of the Big Three. While the overwhelming message of the 2014 NBA Finals should have been how great a team the San Antonio Spurs are, the all-encompassing aftertaste of that tasty execution was the undeniable fact that as currently constructed, Miami just doesn’t have what it takes to continue winning championships. If LeBron were totally committed to a return to Miami, Decision 2.0 probably wouldn’t be taking this long.

In fact, LeBron and Bosh’s desires for max contracts reveals that sacrificing money for improved odds at a championship isn’t the focus anymore. LeBron’s never been the highest-paid player on any of his teams and he’s entitled to being paid like the world’s best player because he is. But money has still become the focus and in order to improve his shot at more titles, LeBron may have to couple his desire for max money with an offer from some other team. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns can offer him that and the longer the silence continues, the more it feels like this could be the end of the Big Three.
