Houston Rockets rumors: LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony not interested?
By Bryan Rose
In the weeks leading up to the NBA’s 2014 free agent period and in the days after it kicked off, few teams appeared to have a better shot at signing either LeBron James and/or Carmelo Anthony than the Houston Rockets. General manager Daryl Morey has stated his desire to obtain a star player to place alongside Dwight Howard and James Harden on more than one occasion and few fit that role better than James and Anthony.

James hasn’t met with the Houston Rockets yet (nor anybody else) but Carmelo Anthony did make his way to Space City where he was wooed by the organization, including photos of himself wearing his famed No. 7 jersey. That didn’t sit well with Jeremy Lin, who voiced his displeasure and now the meeting may have been for nothing.
According to Nate Duncan, neither LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony have shown any indication that they’re interested in signing with the Houston Rockets (at least to this point).
Many assumed the Rockets, thanks to the aforementioned Howard and Harden would be a top destination for big name free agents as a new ‘Big 3’ could be formed. However that hasn’t proven to be the case as of yet as the Rockets have so far been shut out.
Carmelo Anthony also met with the Dallas Mavericks during his trip to Texas though some have suggested that was nothing more than a PR move, so might his meeting with the Rockets have been the same?
We may never know but for now, things appear to be relatively quiet regarding the Houston Rockets adding another star to their mix.
