Pro: $$

The first pro for Carmelo Anthony choosing to re-sign with the Knicks is the most obvious one: money. Although I don’t doubt that Melo wants to win championships and the Chicago Bulls represented his most realistic shot at winning one, the Bulls would have needed a sign-and-trade in order to offer Anthony anything close to a max deal.

In New York, Melo will have an extra year on his contract and the Knicks can offer him more money than anyone. He would have been paid handsomely no matter where he went, but there aren’t many people on this earth that would turn down $129 million to play for a prestigious organization like the Knicks. Get that money, Melo.
