Ricky Rubio wants five-year max contract from Minnesota Timberwolves
By Josh Hill
The Minnesota Timberwolves haven’t been a great franchise as of late and that’s something that has hampered them in their efforts to become something other than a joke of a basketball team. It appears that they’re going to lose Kevin Love either this summer or by the time next summer rolls around and that means the team is going to be going through an interesting and vulnerable period.

Minnesota’s Kevin Love problem stems from the previous regime not wanting to give the power forward a max contract because it was earmarked for then rookie sensation Ricky Rubio. Since the, Rubio’s game has fallen off and Love is the best power forward in basketball — so the tables indeed turned.
Rubio now wants to circle back to that earmarked max contract and would like to work out a five-year deal with Minnesota sometime soon.
Giving Rubio the max is something that won’t happen until next summer as Minnesota will likely hang onto it as long as they can in order to make sure Kevin Love won’t want it next offseason. BUt locking down Rubio is something the Wolves need to do, as he’s the closest thing they have to an identity on their team and he’s their best chance to get better moving forward.
