NFL Power Rankings: Packers, Steelers, 5 teams on the rise
By Kim Myers
Houston Texans (2-14 in 2013)
The Houston Texans probably won’t be soaring into the ranks of the AFC Playoffs just yet, but I think they’re definitely on the rise from a 2-win season based on their offseason adjustments. Bill O’Brien inherited a lot of talent in players like JJ Watt, Andre Johnson, and Brian Cushing. He’s also got potentially one of the most anticipated defensive rookies the NFL has seen in a long time. If Clowney is 100% the entire season, look out.
The question marks still remain on offense for Houston, how have decided that Ryan Fitzpatrick is the man under center, for now. He’s not a long-term answer so that’s why the team won’t be playoff-contending anytime soon. But, the Texans got a sweet schedule in 2014 to go along with the top draft pick so a rise to even the world of .500 would be an excellent starting point for the Bill O’Brien era in Houston.
