New York Yankees Trade Targets: Price, Lee on the radar
David Price (10-7, 3.06 ERA, 173 K)
Even though it’s pretty much unlikely that Tampa will want to trade their star pitcher within their division, let’s just play devil’s advocate for a second and ask, what if? Besides, Price would be the best solution to help fix the mess that is the Yankees starting rotation.
Price is by far the best pitcher (possibly) available for the July 31st trade deadline and the Yankees should try to see if they can figure out a way to acquire him, because, well, they need a dominant pitcher, left alone a dominant left-hander in that makeshift rotation.
He leads all of Major League Baseball in strikeouts with 173 (45 shy of career-high 218) and in innings pitched (155.2) and has recorded an earned run average below one in four starts this month.
The Yankees will need a dominant left-hander in that rotation if they expect to make a playoff run, as the five pitchers currently in the Yankees rotation are all right-handers.
The Yankees would have to trade two of their top prospects, most likely having to part ways with pitcher Luis Severino and Aaron Judge to even spark a conversation for Price and probably someone from their current staff, possibly Bentances and/or Shane Greene or Chase Whitley.
