Candidates: Brandon Harris, Anthony Jennings

As with many of these high profile SEC schools, a quarterback competition comes down to a blue chip recruit and a veteran backup who has paid his dues behind a departed starter. The veteran backup in his case is Anthony Jennings, who is still just a sophomore but had lots of opportunities to shine last year with Zach Mettenberger out with injuries in the Arkansas and Iowa games.

The blue chip recruit is Brandon Harris, an outstanding athlete and dual-threat QB. He came in during the spring and turned a lot of heads as a true freshman, earning rave reviews from coaches and respect from teammates. Harris’s ceiling is higher than Jennings’s, so I predict that while Jennings will start game one for the Tigers, Harris will eventually overtake him and lead the team down the stretch run of the season.
