Jim Irsay has yet to be punished from the NFL in the wake of his March arrest for driving under the influence which also resulted in his being charged with two misdemeanors and him serving a stint in rehab.

Following the NFL’s two-game suspension of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, who also forfeited a third game check, for his assault of his fiancee in a February assault case could signal bad news for the Indianapolis Colts owner in the wake of the public outcry over the light punishment given to Rice.

Due to Irsay being an owner, several players spoke out after his arrest that the NFL should be more severe with this case that if a player committed the same offense.

According to Bleacher Reports’ Jason Cole, Irsay could receive a “slightly longer” suspension than the two-games Rice received for his domestic dispute and could receive a three-four game suspension with a “substantial fine.”

The substantial fine could be a record handed down from the NFL considering the vast wealth of Irsay who had his license suspended for a year earlier this year.

After making a mistake by and large with the Rice ruling, the NFL can’t afford to make a mistake with the handling of Irsay. A three-four game suspension may not be enough for some, but it does send a message that the league can’t tolerate this type of transgression from an authority figure.

Would you think a three-four game suspension is enough for Irsay? Is it too harsh, too lenient or just right, let us know in the comments section below.
